Installing Wordfence Premium

Before you install Wordfence Premium, you must follow the instructions below to take full advantage of Wordfence Premium features.
 

  1. If Wordfence Premium was previously installed, you must deactivate and delete Wordfence Premium and select to delete database tables, too. You can export your settings and reimport after you finish installation.
  2. Install the free version of Wordfence from the WordPress plugin repository.
  3. Click on “GET YOUR WORDPRESS LICENSE”. This will take you to the Wordfence website. Once there, click on “Get a Free License”. If a popup appears trying to sell you a monthly Wordfence Firewall subscription, simply click on “I’m OK waiting 30 days for protection from new threats”. Finally, enter your email address and submit. Your license key will be sent to your email.
  4. Copy your license key and return to your WordPress installation. This time, click on the “Install an existing license” link. Enter your email address and paste the license key you received from Wordfence and activate. A popup should confirm your free license is installed.
  5. Now go to Plugins -> Add New and upload Wordfence Premium. A “This plugin is already installed” notice will appear, simply click “Replace current with uploaded” and you’re good to go!
